  • 1 package store-bought puff pastry Use high-quality, all-butter puff pastry for best results.
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened Full-fat cream cheese for best texture; mascarpone can be substituted.
  • 1/4 cup sugar Adjust sweetness to taste.
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract Enhances the flavor of the filling.
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced Choose ripe but firm berries.
  • 1 each egg, beaten For egg wash.
  • Powdered sugar For dusting (optional).

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) with a baking sheet inside.
  2. Roll and cut the puff pastry into heart shapes on a floured surface.
  3. In a bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with sugar and vanilla until smooth and spreadable.
Assembly
  1. Place a dollop of cream cheese mixture in the center of each heart and top with sliced strawberries.
  2. Fold the edges of the pastry toward the filling and brush with beaten egg for shine.
Baking
  1. Bake on a parchment-lined sheet for 15–20 minutes until golden brown.
  2. Cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Store baked danishes in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Freeze for up to 2 months. To reheat, thaw and bake at 350°F for 8–10 minutes.
