  • 1 cup flour All-purpose flour.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted Use unsalted for best results.
  • 2 large eggs Room temperature eggs are preferred.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Enhances flavor.

  • 1 cup chocolate chips Optional for extra chocolatey goodness.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine cocoa powder, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Whisk to remove lumps.
  3. Add the melted butter and mix until the batter is smooth and glossy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together flour, salt, and baking powder; then fold into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  6. If desired, fold in chocolate chips gently.
  7. Drop tablespoons of dough onto a lined baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Baking
  1. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set but the centers look slightly soft.
  2. Cool on the baking sheet for 3-5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days. For longer storage, freeze baked cookies or raw dough.
