Ingredients

For the batter
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened) Opt for high-quality butter for the best flavor. Can substitute with coconut oil for a dairy-free option.
  • 1 cup brown sugar (light or dark variety) Brown sugar contributes to the chewy texture and enhances flavor.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract (pure)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (or gluten-free blend) For a gluten-free version, replace with gluten-free flour.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda (fresh)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (kosher or fine)
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (or dark chocolate) Choose high-quality chocolate chips for best melt and flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9×13 inch baking pan by greasing it or lining it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until fluffy and light in color.
  3. Mix in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract. Beat until smooth.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this to your wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  5. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
Baking
  1. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the edges are golden and the center has set slightly.

Notes

Chill the batter for 30 minutes before baking for enhanced flavor. Line your pan with parchment paper for easy removal. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days at room temperature.
