Ingredients

Cream Cheese Layer
  • 1 package cream cheese, softened (8 oz) Use full-fat for stability and flavor.
  • 1 cup powdered sugar For sweetness and to balance the cream cheese tang.
  • 2 cups whipped topping (like Cool Whip), thawed Ensure it’s still cold to maintain volume.
Chocolate Layers
  • 1 package chocolate sandwich cookies, crushed (15.25 oz) Creates the 'dirt' texture and base for the filling.
  • 2 cups milk To mix with pudding for a dense layer.
  • 1 package instant chocolate pudding mix (3.9 oz) Make sure it is instant pudding for proper texture.
Decorations
  • as needed gummy worms For playful decoration.
  • as needed Easter-themed candies or sprinkles To enhance the visuals.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with powdered sugar until completely smooth and free of lumps.
  2. Gently fold in the whipped topping into the cream cheese mixture until uniform and fluffy.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and instant chocolate pudding mix until thickened.
Assembly
  1. Spread half of the crushed chocolate sandwich cookies evenly across the base of a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Add half of the cream cheese mixture over the cookie layer, smoothing to the edges.
  3. Dollop or spread half of the pudding layer over the cream cheese mixture.
  4. Repeat layering with remaining cookies, cream cheese mixture, and pudding.
  5. Top with remaining crushed cookies, then decorate with gummy worms and Easter-themed candies.
Chilling
  1. Refrigerate the dish for at least 2 hours to allow layers to set.

Notes

For best results, chill components before assembly. Keep ingredients cold and avoid over-mixing to maintain lightness. Use an offset spatula for neat layers.
