Preparation
- In a large bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add the olive oil, salt, and half of the flour to the yeast mixture. Stir until combined.
- Gradually add the remaining flour until a dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Baking
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Punch down the risen dough and incorporate the mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, garlic, and Italian herbs.
- Shape the dough into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan.
- Cover and let it rise again for about 30 minutes.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
- Cool before slicing, and enjoy your cheesy Italian bread!
Notes
Store wrapped tightly at room temperature for 2-3 days. For longer storage, freeze slices individually and consume within 3 months. Reheat in the oven for best results.
